God’s Commitment to You

For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he swore by himself, Hebrews 6:13 (CWSB)

This is something worth thinking about as we begin this new year. 2020 is full of promise as it marks the beginning of a new decade. Individually, the year holds a lot of possibilities. Some may say there’s a lot that can go wrong this year. But, there’s also a whole lot that can go right.

I’ll begin this year by looking at something that very much defined my experiences with God last year. That is, God’s commitment.

Is God really committed to everything He has promised in His word? I understand that many of us have our "faith checklists" which keep getting longer and longer. While some have items that are continually being checked off as done, others have a growing worry over their lists growing moulds such that they won’t be able to see the items anymore. This being the start of the year, you may ask yourself, "Is it worth making yet another list of goals?"

But how do you test God’s commitment? Is it by the things He does or the things He leaves undone?

Through the scriptures, God has used many relationships as a type of the relationship He has with us. There’s the master-servant relationship. The brotherly relationship as with Christ. The friendship kind. The one that’s fascinates me…
